Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about DEOMED® socks.
Which socks are for people with diabetes?
All of them! The properties shared by every DEOMED® sock (no constriction, seamless linking, softness, elasticity, antibacterial and antifungal action and so on) make them particularly recommended as part of the prevention of diabetic foot syndrome.
Is the cuff durable, or will it stretch after repeated washing until the sock slides off the foot?
The cuff is knitted with a very fine but durable elastane fibre that does not lose its elasticity in the wash.
Why are the socks not made of 100% bamboo or 100% cotton?
The socks are made from natural raw materials (cotton, bamboo, sea algae), but an addition of polyamide and elastane is essential. These fibres make the socks elastic and durable. Socks without them lose their elasticity after one or two washes.
What are the characteristic features of these socks?
- they are soft yet durable,
- they inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi on the skin,
- they are very elastic and stretchy, yet stay in place on the leg,
- they are seamless and do not chafe the feet.
Do feet sweat excessively in DEOMED® socks?
The socks do not reduce the amount of sweat produced by the skin, but they do prevent bacteria and fungi from growing in it. This protects against bacterial and fungal infections, and at the same time the socks stay free of unpleasant odour even after prolonged wear.
Do the socks really have an antifungal effect?
Yes. Laboratory tests confirm that the knitted fabric of the socks inhibits the growth of fungi and bacteria.
Can the socks cause allergies or irritate the skin of the feet?
No - the materials used to make the socks have been dermatologically tested for this and hold the appropriate certificates.
Are the socks suitable for people with circulatory disorders?
They are definitely recommended for people with circulatory disorders - the socks hug the legs very gently and do not cause excessive pressure.
How do socks made of bamboo yarn differ from traditional cotton ones?
Bamboo yarn is exceptionally soft and gentle to the touch, which makes it particularly suitable for people with sensitive feet. Socks made from it are more breathable, and bamboo also has natural bacteriostatic properties.
Why are DEOMED® socks more expensive than ordinary socks?
The price reflects their special construction, the use of the highest quality materials and production on state-of-the-art knitting machines. Thanks to these features, and to meticulous supervision of the quality of the production process, DEOMED® socks have unique properties. Higher quality has to cost more.
Are you sure they will not slide down?
The cuff of the socks uses a very fine, elastic and carefully selected elastane fibre. It hugs the leg gently, preventing the socks from sliding down, without causing excessive pressure.
Are DEOMED® socks intended only for people who are ill?
No. For a healthy person they provide comfort unmatched by other socks. The absence of pressure and their softness prevent the feeling of tired legs at the end of the day, while inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi has a hygienic and aesthetic effect - the socks work like a deodorant, combating unpleasant odour.
Are the antibacterial and antifungal properties permanent?
Yes, these properties are wash-resistant; the socks remain antibacterial and antifungal even after several dozen washes. This has been confirmed by testing.
